Create a challenge
Launch a competition on a track and a selection of cars, over a given period, in one or more centers. The drivers' best laps form a public leaderboard.
A challenge puts your drivers in competition on one track and one or more cars, between two dates. There is nothing to set on the simulators: each lap driven under the conditions of the challenge enters the leaderboard by itself.
Create the challenge
Open the form
In NEXUS, open Challenges, then click New challenge.
Choose the centers
Under Centers concerned, click each center where the challenge is run. The centers selected in the sidebar are ticked in advance.
A challenge across several centers is a single competition: its leaderboard brings together the laps of all these centers.
Describe the challenge
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Cover image (1920×823 recommended) | Optional. JPG, PNG or WEBP, 5 MB at most. It illustrates the challenge in NEXUS, on the public calendar and on the leaderboard. |
| Challenge name | The name the drivers will see, for example Nightfall Endurance. |
| Start date / End date | The first and last day of the challenge. The end date can be the same day as the start date. Days are understood in each center's time: from midnight to midnight, according to its Time zone. |
| Track | A single track, among those installed on the simulators of the chosen centers. |
| Allowed cars | One or more cars. Only laps driven with one of them count. |
If the track or a car is missing on some simulators, a warning names them ("Track not installed on: …"). The challenge remains possible: it will only be playable on the simulators that have the content.

If the track or a car is installed on a simulator but not offered to players, the form says so: "Content installed but not activated on: … — the challenge will not be playable there". Leave Activate this content on save ticked to make it available on these simulators at the same time as you create the challenge.
Choose the difficulty levels
Under Allowed difficulty levels, keep the levels whose laps must count. All three are ticked by default. Their names come from your profiles in Settings › Simulation, Difficulty block (Novice, Intermediate, Expert originally).
The level of a lap is read from the stability aid used during that lap: 25% or less counts as Expert, up to 75% as Intermediate, above that as Novice.
Tick Show valid laps only so that an invalidated lap (off-track, corner cut, or invalidated by hand) counts neither in the leaderboard nor in the calendar. The option is unticked by default: invalid laps then appear, tagged INVALID, after all the valid laps.
Create
Click Create.
Result
The challenge appears in the Challenges list, with its image, the centers concerned,
the track and the cars. Its badge shows SCHEDULED before the start date, then the
number of days remaining during the period (12D), then ENDED. The
Participants counter goes up as drivers race: it counts exactly the drivers
in the public leaderboard.
During its period, the challenge also appears on your public leaderboard, on your public calendar and, if you sell online, in a banner on your booking page.
Follow and edit a challenge
On the challenge's card:
- Results (leaderboard icon) opens the challenge's leaderboard, the same as on the public page.
- Edit reopens the form. Click Save to apply. The challenge's centers that the form does not show you (outside your access, or archived) are flagged under Centers concerned and kept when you save.
- Delete asks for confirmation: "“…” will be permanently deleted." A challenge shared with centers outside your access can only be deleted by an account that manages all of them.
On the card, the note + … center outside your access indicates that a challenge also runs in centers you do not manage.
At the top of the page, the Calendar and Leaderboard buttons open the public pages, for All centers or for one center. See Show a public leaderboard.
When a challenge becomes unplayable
A challenge does not exist on the simulators: it sorts after the fact the laps they send. If you remove its track or its cars from the simulators, nothing breaks, but nobody can take part any more. NEXUS flags it on the card:
- PARTIAL: the challenge is no longer playable in some of its centers.
- UNPLAYABLE: it is no longer playable anywhere. The Unplayable counter then appears at the top of the page.
The card's banner gives the reason center by center, for example "…: track … is not active on any simulator" or "…: track and cars are never active on the same simulator". Click Reactivate content to make the track and the cars available again on the simulators that have them installed.
This button only appears to accounts that can manage content, and only reactivates in your centers. A finished challenge is no longer monitored: its leaderboard is frozen.
Good to know
- Four challenges running at most per center, on the same day. The leaderboard and the calendar do not show more: a fifth challenge that would overlap the four others on the same day is refused when you save. Shift its dates or remove this center.
- Each driver only appears once in the leaderboard, with their best lap. A valid lap always ranks ahead of an invalid lap, even a faster one.
- Invalid laps appear too, tagged INVALID, after all the valid laps, unless Show valid laps only is ticked. To remove a lap from the leaderboard, invalidate it. See Validate or invalidate a lap.
- The challenge is retroactive. Created or edited during its period, it also counts the laps already driven since its start date.
- An archived center no longer counts. Its laps leave the leaderboard and its name leaves the list of the challenge's centers.
- On a challenge shared between several centers, a user limited to some of these centers only sees the challenge's health for their own.
Troubleshooting
| Message | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "At least one center must be selected" | No center is ticked under Centers concerned. | Tick at least one center. |
| "End date must be greater than or equal to start date" | The dates are reversed. | Correct the End date. |
| "Track is required" / "At least one car must be selected" | The track or the cars are missing. | Choose a Track and at least one car. |
| "At least one difficulty level must be selected" | All levels are unticked. | Tick at least one level. |
| The Track or Allowed cars list is empty | No simulator of the chosen centers has reported this content as installed. | Check that the simulators are paired and that the content is installed on them. See Link a simulator to a center. |
| "Image too large (5 MB maximum)" | The image exceeds 5 MB. | Reduce it, ideally to 1920 × 823 pixels. |
| "Unsupported image format. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WEBP" | The image is in another format. | Convert it to JPG, PNG or WEBP. |
| "“…” would have more than 4 challenges running at the same time — the leaderboard can't show more. Shift the dates or remove this center." | This center would have five challenges running on the same day. | Shift the challenge's dates, or remove this center. |
| "This challenge is shared with centers outside your access: only an account that manages all of them can delete it." | The challenge also runs in centers you do not manage. | Ask an administrator of the account to delete it. |
| "Content reactivated — … item(s) could not be activated: quota reached or content missing" | Part of the content could not be reactivated. | Free up room among the content offered, or install the missing content on the simulator. See Choose the cars and tracks offered. |
| "Reactivation failed" | Reactivation failed. | Try again; if the message persists, reactivate the content from Cars and Tracks. |
| A driver does not appear in the leaderboard | Their lap was driven with another car, another track, a difficulty level that is not ticked, outside the dates, or in a center that is not part of the challenge. | Check these settings with Edit. |
