Share content between simulators
Install a car or a track on a single simulator and let NEXUS copy it to the others, between two sessions.
A share copies an Assetto Corsa content folder from one simulator to the others: you install a car on a single machine, and it reaches the whole fleet. Copies only happen when a simulator is idle, never while a player is driving.
Role of each simulator
In a share, each simulator has a role:
| Role | What the simulator does |
|---|---|
| Source (publishes) | Publishes its content. Accepts nothing from the others. |
| Mirror (receives) | Receives only. Its local changes are never sent back. |
| Bidirectional | Publishes and receives. Any local change spreads to the others. |
The simplest setup: one reference simulator as Source, on which you install the content, and all the others as Mirror.
Create a share
Open the editor
In the sidebar, select the centers concerned. Open Content › Sync, then click New share.
Name it and choose the content
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | What you will read in the list, for example Cars — Lyon fleet. |
| Replicated content | Cars — content/cars, Tracks — content/tracks or Driver models — content/driver (Assetto Corsa's driver models). This choice cannot be changed after creation. |
To share both cars and tracks, create two shares.
Assign the roles
Under Simulators, all the simulators of the selected centers are offered as Mirror (receives). Switch at least one simulator to Source (publishes) or Bidirectional, and set those that must not take part to — outside the share.

- New simulators included: any simulator registered in these centers after the share is created, and not yet in any share of this type, joins it as Mirror. Simulators already present only join if you add them: a simulator you leave out of the share stays out, and a simulator you remove by hand does not come back.
- Propagate deletions: leave it off. See Good to know.
Save
Click Save. The button stays off, and what is missing is shown, as long as there is no name, at least two simulators and at least one source.
Result
The share appears in the list with its type, its Deletions protected note and the number of simulators up to date. Each simulator first shows a percentage, along with SCANNING then TRANSFERRING, then UP TO DATE. A simulator picks up a new or changed share within 5 minutes, as soon as it is idle.
Follow the status of the simulators
| Status shown | What it means |
|---|---|
| UP TO DATE | The simulator has all the content of the share. |
Percentage (68 %) | Copy in progress. The detail gives the step, what remains to copy (2 GB left) and the reachable peers (3/4 peers). |
| PAUSED (under the percentage) | "Simulator in service — transfers will resume once the simulator is locked". |
| WAITING | The simulator has not picked up this share yet. |
| NO REPORT | No news for more than 3 minutes: simulator off, offline or share silent. This is not the status of the simulator itself: see Monitor your simulators live. |
| ⚠ NEVER STARTED | The share has never started on this simulator. |
| BLOCKED | A failure stops all copying on the simulator. A banner at the top of the page gives the cause. |
2 errors | Some files could not be copied. Open the row for the cause and what to do. |
Under a simulator in error, Rescan asks the simulator to retry the failed files, and Copy report copies the details for support.
Good to know
-
Without an active subscription, sharing is paused. The simulators stop copying, without deleting anything. Sharing resumes as soon as the subscription is active again.
-
Copies happen between two sessions. A simulator copies when it is locked (or on its screensaver) and Assetto Corsa is closed. During a session, transfers are suspended.
-
A simulator can only be in one share per type. Simulators already taken by another share of the same type are listed separately in the editor, under Already in a share, and cannot be chosen.
-
Deletions are not propagated by default. If you turn on Propagate deletions, any file deleted on a source is erased on all the simulators of the share, within a few minutes and without confirmation: a mistake on one machine can empty the whole fleet.
-
Deleting a share deletes no files. The simulators stop copying to each other and keep what they have already received.
-
Copied content still has to be turned on. A car that arrived through a share appears in Content › Cars, disabled on the simulator that received it. See Choose the cars and tracks offered.
-
A share can bring together simulators from several centers. Simulators on the same network find each other directly; between two centers, the copy goes over the Internet.
-
The Windows firewall of the simulator is set up by IGNITION. If rules are missing, IGNITION asks for administrator permission at startup, only once.
-
Weather presets are not shared. See Choose the weather offered.
Troubleshooting
| Message or symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "At least one source is required, otherwise nobody publishes: the share would synchronize nothing." | All simulators are Mirror or outside the share. | Switch a simulator to Source (publishes) or Bidirectional. |
| "Select at least two simulators." | Fewer than two simulators take part. | Add a simulator to the share. |
| "Not enough free simulators for a … share" | The other simulators are already in a share of this type. | Edit the existing share, or free a simulator from it first. |
| ⚠ NEVER STARTED | IGNITION has never started the share on this simulator. | Start the simulator with an up-to-date IGNITION; it will join the share by itself. |
The percentage does not move, 0/3 peers | The simulator cannot reach any other simulator. Ports 22000 and 21027 are blocked on the network, or the other simulators are off. | Switch on the other simulators, then check with your network provider that these ports are open between the simulators. |
| "No reachable source" | The share's source is off or off the network. | Switch on the source shown. |
| "File open in the game" | Assetto Corsa keeps these files open. | Nothing to do after a session; if the error persists with the game closed, restart the simulator. |
| "Disk full" | No more space on the simulator's disk. | Free up space (Assetto Corsa replays, for example): the copy resumes by itself. |
| "Access denied" | An antivirus or a mod manager locks the files. | Check the Windows account's rights on the Assetto Corsa folder, then click Rescan. |
| "File name not allowed by Windows" or "Path too long" | A file name contains a character Windows refuses, or the path is too long. | Rename or shorten it on the source, then rescan. |
| "Another command is already pending on this simulator. Try again in a moment." | A command (restart…) is already pending on the simulator. | Try again in a minute or two. |
