Choose the cars and tracks offered
Turn on, simulator by simulator, the cars and tracks players can choose, and sort them by experience (circuit, rally, drift).
Each simulator only offers players the cars and tracks you have turned on for it. You choose this catalog from NEXUS, simulator by simulator, and for each piece of content you indicate in which experiences it appears: circuit, rally or drift.
Where the list comes from
NEXUS only knows the content installed on your simulators: the Cars and Tracks pages only list what is installed on at least one simulator of your account. When IGNITION is running, it inventories the Assetto Corsa folder at startup then every minute, and sends it to NEXUS. There is nothing to import: install the car or track on the simulator, and it appears in NEXUS within a minute.
- A car is recognized if its folder contains
ui/ui_car.json. - A track is recognized if its folder contains
ui/ui_track.json. A track with several layouts (folders underui/) gives one row per layout. - IGNITION makes no difference between official content and mods: everything that meets these conditions is listed the same way.
Content that has just arrived is disabled on the simulator where it was installed: it does not appear to players until you have ticked it.
Turn on content on a simulator
Open the page
In NEXUS, open Content › Cars (or Content › Tracks).
The simulators shown are those of the centers selected in the sidebar. With several centers, each simulator is prefixed with the name of its center.
Find the content
Use the search, the All brands (cars) and All categories filters, or the Active button to keep only what is already active somewhere. Click the thumbnail of a piece of content to enlarge it.
A track's categories are the tags its author declared in the track
(for example drift, england, forest): they are shown under its name, and a track
matches the filter as soon as one of its tags matches.
Tick the simulators
In the Simulators column, tick each simulator that must offer this content. The
All box ticks or unticks at once all the simulators where it is installed. The counter
(3/4) shows on how many of these simulators it is active.
The simulators where the content is not installed are listed separately, under Content missing, and cannot be ticked.
captures/en/contenu/voitures-activationCars page: a car row with its thumbnail, its experience flags and the list of ticked simulators, plus two simulators under Content missingResult
The box stays ticked and the row's counter goes up. The simulator receives the change within a few seconds if it is online; the player sees it the next time they reach the selection screen (a screen already displayed is not redrawn). The Simulators block at the top of the page gives, for each simulator, the number of active pieces of content.
Turn content on or off in bulk
The two buttons at the top of the page act on all the simulators of the selected centers.
- Activate all turns on, on each simulator where it is installed, the content that is displayed: if you have entered a search or a filter, only the content found is affected.
- Deactivate all opens a selection mode: everything appears unticked, but nothing is saved yet. Tick Keep on each piece of content to keep, then click Save: the ticked content becomes exactly the active content of each simulator. Cancel leaves this mode without changing anything.
Locked content is never changed by these buttons.
Sort content by experience
Under the name of each piece of content, the flags show in which experiences it appears at the simulator. Click a flag to turn it on or off.
| Flag | Effect at the simulator |
|---|---|
| Circuit | The content appears in the Circuit experience. |
| R.Dirt | Rally on dirt. An R.Dirt track only accepts cars marked R.Dirt. |
| R.Asphalt | Rally on asphalt. An R.Asphalt track only accepts cars marked R.Asphalt. |
| Drift | The content appears in the Drift experience. |
| Race (tracks) | The track is offered in Race and Multiplayer modes. When off, it is no longer offered in these two modes, for circuit as well as rally. |
| Sequential gearbox (cars) | On a simulator equipped with a separate gear shifter declared in its settings, this car's gears go through that shifter. |
| No headlights (cars) | Night times are not offered with this car. |
Content that has never been sorted is in Circuit only (and Race for a track).
The sorting applies to all the centers of your account, not only to the selected center. A user who changes it also changes it for their colleagues at the other centers.
On the simulator
In the simulator settings (⚙), the Cars and Tracks tabs show the same list. You can tick Activate there on site: the choice is sent back to NEXUS. The experience flags are grayed out there: "Categories managed from NEXUS (read-only)". They can only be changed in NEXUS.
Good to know
- An experience only appears at the simulator if it is playable. It needs at least one active car and one active track, of the same experience and compatible with each other. Otherwise the Rally or Drift card is simply not offered.
- The simulator needs a preview image. A car without
preview.jpgin its first skin (skins/), or a track withoutpreview.pngin itsui/folder, is not offered to players, even if ticked in NEXUS. - A simulator always keeps at least one active car and one active track. A simulator with no active content considers all its installed content to be active: NEXUS therefore refuses to untick the last active car or track of a simulator, one by one or in bulk.
- Content used in a challenge shows a 🏆 next to its name. Hovering over it gives the list of the challenges concerned.
- The thumbnail shown in NEXUS is sent by the first simulator that has the content, then shared by all. If the preview image changes on a simulator (update of a mod), the thumbnail is replaced at the next sync.
Content and challenges
A challenge is played on a specific track and cars. If you turn off the last way to take part in it, NEXUS warns you before applying:
Deactivate despite a challenge? This content is the last way to take part in: … Deactivating it will make those challenges unplayable. Laps already recorded stay valid.
Click Deactivate anyway to confirm, or Cancel. The warning only appears if the challenge really becomes unplayable: if another simulator still has the content, the deactivation goes through without a question. To repair a challenge, see Create a challenge.
Troubleshooting
| Message or symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "At least one experience must remain active (circuit, rally dirt, rally asphalt or drift)." | You tried to turn off the last flag among Circuit, R.Dirt, R.Asphalt and Drift. The content would no longer appear anywhere. | Turn on another experience before turning this one off. To remove the content, untick its simulators instead. |
| Installed content does not appear in NEXUS | IGNITION is not running on the simulator, or the folder does not contain ui/ui_car.json (car) or ui/ui_track.json (track). | Start IGNITION, check the content of the folder, then wait a minute. |
| The simulator appears under Content missing | The content is not installed on this simulator. | Install it on the simulator, or share it from another simulator. See Share content between simulators. |
| Ticked in NEXUS, but missing at the simulator | The preview image is missing, the content is not in the right experience, or no compatible content is active (R.Dirt track without an R.Dirt car). | Check the flags and the preview (see Good to know). |
| "Refused: … would have no active car left. …" (or "no active track left") | The action would leave a simulator without any active car (or track). | Keep at least one active piece of content on each simulator named. |
| "Check at least one item before saving." | In Deactivate all mode, no content is ticked. | Tick Keep on at least one piece of content, or click Cancel. |
| The box reverts with a red message | NEXUS refused the change; the message gives the reason (locked content, center cap reached…). | Follow the message; if that is not enough, contact Omnisim support. |
