Understand NEXUS, IGNITION and the simulators
The parts of Omnisim, what each one does, and how a player goes from purchase to the track.
Omnisim runs a racing simulation center: it sells the sessions, opens the simulators to players who have paid, and gives you an overview of the activity. This page introduces the parts it is made of. The other pages of the manual assume you know them.
The parts
NEXUS, your management workspace
NEXUS is the application you open in your browser, at app.getomnisim.com. This is where you manage everything:
- your Centers and their settings;
- what you sell: Products, Promotions, booking page;
- the QR Codes your customers receive;
- your simulators, live, in Simulators;
- the activity: Sessions, Laps, Drivers, Challenges;
- your Omnisim subscription, in Billing.
Nothing to install: NEXUS works on computers, tablets and phones.
IGNITION, the simulator software
IGNITION is installed on each simulator, that is, each gaming machine. It:
- shows the screensaver while nobody is playing;
- reads the player's QR code and opens the simulator if the code is valid;
- guides the player up to the start: car, track, weather, difficulty;
- starts Assetto Corsa, then counts the play time and records the laps;
- locks the simulator again at the end of the session.
IGNITION receives its settings from NEXUS: what you change in NEXUS reaches the simulators without anyone having to step in on site.
Simulators in NEXUS
A simulator is a physical machine in your center. In NEXUS, each simulator appears in Simulators, with its live status. Each simulator has a simulator type, which you define in Settings › Hardware, and which determines the products it accepts.
Centers and your company
Your company is the Omnisim account: it holds the subscription and the Stripe account that collects online sales. It groups one or more centers, the places where your simulators are. Each center has its own settings, its products and its booking page.
A player's journey
The purchase. The customer buys a session, a booklet or a pass on your booking page, or you hand it over at the front desk. They receive a QR code by email.
The scan. At the simulator, they present their QR code to the reader. IGNITION checks with NEXUS that the ticket is valid in this center, for this simulator type, at this time.
The race. They choose their car and track, then drive. Their laps are recorded and can enter the leaderboards and challenges.
The end. When the time is up, the simulator goes back to the screensaver. The QR code's credit is only deducted at that moment, and only for the time actually played.
Your two types of access
An administrator sees all the company's centers and all features. A user only accesses the centers and features their role opens to them. See Administrators and users.
