How a QR code's credit is used
What a QR code grants at each scan, when a use is deducted, and what happens when a player stops before the end.
A QR code carries a credit: a number of uses, each of a fixed duration, or, for a pass, a number of sessions per day. Omnisim only deducts this credit at the actual end of a session, and only for the time actually driven. A player therefore never loses time because of a scan, a wait or an interruption.
What a scan grants
At each scan, the simulator grants the player:
- the time remaining of an interrupted session, if they have one;
- otherwise, a full session, of the duration set by the product.
The scan itself deducts nothing.
What is deducted at the end
The time counted is the actual racing time: from the start until leaving the race. Loading, the grid and waiting in the menus do not count.
The player drives to the end (less than 10 seconds remain): one use is spent.
The player stops before the end (10 seconds or more remain): the use is not spent. The remaining time is set aside on their QR code, and will be given back to them at the next scan.
Example
A booklet of 5 sessions of 30 minutes.
| What happens | Uses remaining | Next scan grants |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase | 5 | 30 min |
| The player drives 30 min | 4 | 30 min |
| They drive 12 min then stop | 4 | 18 min (their remaining time) |
| They come back and finish their 18 min | 3 | 30 min |
The case of the pass
A pass has no number of uses: it is valid until its end date, up to a number of sessions per day. A session counts toward the day's maximum when it is played to the end, according to the same 10-second rule, and for the day it was scanned. See Sell a pass.
One QR code, one simulator at a time
A QR code can only hold one simulator at a time:
- re-scanned on its own simulator, it locks it, then unlocks it at the next scan, without deducting anything;
- scanned on another simulator while a session is in progress, it is refused with "This ticket is already in use on …": it must first be re-scanned on the first simulator to release it;
- if the first simulator has shown no sign of life for more than 90 seconds (power cut, restart), the QR code can be taken over on another simulator.
In multiplayer
In a multiplayer race, the host sets the duration. Each guest drives at most the host's time, even if they had more left; the time not played stays on their QR code.
