Put a simulator on standby
Turn off the screen of an idle simulator from NEXUS, while keeping it reachable, then wake it up remotely.
Standby turns off a simulator's screen and locks it, without switching it off: it stays reachable from NEXUS and wakes up with a click. It is useful during off-peak hours, when an idle simulator does not need to show its screensaver.
Standby or scheduled sleep?
The Standby button turns off the screen of a simulator that stays on and reachable. Scheduled sleep, set in Settings › Energy, puts the simulator to sleep every night: it no longer responds until its scheduled wake-up. This page covers the former. For the latter, see Schedule shutdown and wake-up.
Put on standby
Find the simulator
Open Simulators and find the simulator's row.
Send standby
Click the button in the Standby column (sun icon, tooltip Put to standby (screen off, simulator locked)). On a phone, tap Commands on the simulator's card, then Standby.
Result
The simulator's Status changes to Standby and the icon in the Standby column becomes a moon. At the simulator, the screen is off. The Standby counter at the top of the page goes up by one. The Log records Standby on.

Click the button in the Standby column again (tooltip Wake), or, on a phone, Commands › Wake.
The screen comes back on, showing the screensaver. The simulator stays locked: a player must scan their QR code, or you unlock it with the Lock column. The Log records Standby off.
Standby ends on its own
You do not need to wake a simulator for a customer to use it. Standby ends by itself when:
- a customer scans their QR code and unlocks the simulator;
- the simulator is unlocked from NEXUS;
- Assetto Corsa starts on the simulator.
After the scan of a ticket or a command QR code that opens the simulator, the screen comes back on immediately. In the other cases, the simulator checks these conditions every 30 seconds: the screen can therefore take up to 30 seconds to come back on.
Good to know
- A simulator on standby does not go to sleep. IGNITION prevents Windows from putting it to sleep for inactivity: it stays reachable for as long as standby lasts.
- The screen does not come back on by accident. If someone touches the wheel or the keyboard, the screen turns on briefly, then the simulator turns it off again within 30 seconds.
- Standby cuts nothing else. The simulator keeps sending its status, syncing and receiving your commands: maintenance, restart, unlock.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The Standby button is grayed out, with the tooltip "Scheduled sleep — automatic wake at the scheduled time" | The simulator is Asleep: it went to sleep according to the schedule in Settings › Energy. | Wait for the scheduled wake time, or switch the simulator on on site. |
| The Standby button is grayed out on an Offline simulator | The simulator no longer communicates. | See A simulator appears offline. |
| The Standby button is grayed out, with the tooltip "Standby unavailable during a race" | A player is driving on the simulator. | Wait for the end of the session. |
| The simulator goes back to Available shortly after being put on standby | A player unlocked it, or Assetto Corsa was still running. | This is the expected behavior: standby always gives way to a customer. |
