Customize the simulators' screensaver
Choose what your simulators show between two customers (default visual, video or image), the sound, the overlaid information, the menu music and the settings PIN code.
Between two customers, each simulator shows its screensaver. You choose what it shows, whether it plays sound, and what is overlaid on it: your logo, the booking QR code, your cars and tracks.
Choose the screensaver content
Open the tab
Select the center or centers in the sidebar, then open Settings › IGNITION, Screensaver block.
Choose the type of content
In Screensaver content, choose Default, Video or Image.
Default shows the Omnisim visual, with a message inviting you to customize the screen in NEXUS. It is also what the simulators of a center that has never set its screensaver show, and what a simulator in Video or Image mode shows as long as it has no file.
Switching from Video to Image (or the other way round) removes the current file if it is not of the right type: a video is not shown in Image mode. Then choose a new file; in the meantime, the simulator shows the default visual.
Provide the file
For Video or Image, click Change on the Displayed file row, then:
- Upload tab: send your file. Video: mp4, mov or webm. Image: jpg, png or webp. 200 MB at most;
- Omnisim library tab: choose content provided by Omnisim.

In Screensaver audio, choose:
| Mode | Effect |
|---|---|
| 🔇 Muted | No sound. This is the default. |
| 🔊 Sound | The video's sound plays continuously, at the chosen Volume. |
| 📺 Demo | The sound plays for the Sound duration, then stays silent for the Silence interval, and so on. |
Sound only applies to Video mode.
Result
The sheet's banner shows ✓ SAVED and the Displayed file row shows the name of the file. Online simulators are notified within a few seconds, then download the content: allow more time for a large video. Until the new file has arrived, the old one stays on screen.
Choose what is shown on top
In the On-screen overlays block:
| Setting | Effect | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Driver overlay | Username and time remaining during the session. | On |
| Commands overlay | Wheel buttons and paddles, overlaid. See Configure the navigation controls. | On |
| Booking QR code | Shows on the screensaver a QR code that opens the center's booking page. It is built automatically: nothing to enter. | On when a center is created |
| Language choice on unlock | Offers the player to choose their language before playing, if the center has several languages. | Off |
| Content showcase | Scrolls through the available cars and tracks. | Off |
| Display overlay | Shows your display program on the left of the screensaver. See Show content on a center screen. | Off |
In the Appearance block, you also set the IGNITION background (the background of the menus: jpg, png or webp, 20 MB at most), the Logo on screensaver and the Intro sequence played when the simulator starts.
Choose the menu music
In the Music block, Menu music row, click Change, then choose:
- No music: the simulator's menus stay silent;
- IGNITION default music: the track supplied with IGNITION, this is the initial setting;
- a track from the library: listen to it with ▶, then click Choose.
The music plays in the background on the home screen and in the simulator's menus.
Its volume is set in Settings › Center, PUBLIC THEME block, Menu volume slider (from 0 to 100%, 80% by default).
Protect the simulator settings with a PIN code
In the Access to the simulator settings block, turn on Protect settings with a PIN code, click Change on the Code row and enter 4 digits. The code is requested every time IGNITION's settings are opened, on all the simulators of the selected centers. See Install IGNITION.
Good to know
- The booking QR code only appears on a locked simulator. It is hidden during maintenance and in free access.
- A ticket bought online keeps its language: the simulator opens directly in the language of the booking, without offering a choice.
- In free access, the simulator is never locked. Turn on Free-access screensaver so that it goes back to its screensaver after the Idle delay (15 seconds to 30 minutes; 2 minutes by default). Any control wakes it up. See Use a simulator in free access.
- An unreadable video no longer shows a black screen. If the simulator cannot play the video (unsupported format, damaged file), it shows the default Omnisim visual instead, with your logo and the booking QR code on top.
- The booking QR code panel ("BOOK ONLINE") is shown in the languages of your center. For a language IGNITION does not know, it is shown in English.
- Several centers selected, one file. A file uploaded while several centers are selected is shared by all these centers.
Troubleshooting
| Message or symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| "File too large (max 200 MB)" | The video exceeds 200 MB. The server also rejects any file over this limit once uploaded. | Compress it before uploading. |
| The simulator shows the Omnisim visual instead of your video or image | Default mode is chosen, or Video or Image mode has no file (for example after a mode change). | Choose Video or Image, then click Change on the Displayed file row and provide a file of the right type. |
| "Unsupported format (mp4, mov, webm, jpg, png, webp)" | The file format is not accepted. | Convert it to one of these formats. |
| "The code must be exactly 4 digits — not saved." | The PIN code entered does not have 4 digits. | Enter exactly 4 digits. |
| The screensaver stays black | A recent remote desktop session, or the simulator is on standby. | See The screensaver stays black. |
